I love Marc Antony and Pussyfoot. They hafta be my favorite characters. They sure don't make cartoons like they used to these days...glad your sharing these classics with your children.
You know what the funny thing about that? On the back of the DVD cases, it says: "The Looney Tunes Collection is intended for the adult collector and may not be suitable for children." Umm, what? It was okay for children for 50+ years and now it's not suitable? Right. Whatever. They're watching them anyway.
You need to track down some really old cartoon like Felix the Cat, Popeye, and Merry Melodies. One of the times I lived in Germany presented us with a situation in which we didn't have television. We couldn't pick up Armed Forces Network and didn't watch German TV, so we got lots and lots of VHS cassettes of movies. We were introduced to a hole slew of classic cartoons. I think some of the "unsuitability" is due to the cartoon violence, which didn't effect us as kids, the other reason could be the the racial insensitivity of some past cartoons.
We've recently introduced the kids to Looney Toons. Good times.

ReplyDeleteIt is because they certainly are not "politically correct." In my opinion that's what makes them so hilarious!!!!!
